WHALE SAFETY FIELD GUIDE

Europe essentials and city finder

These nine cities extend the guide across business, finance, events and family travel. They are an editorial selection, not a measured ranking of whale popularity or crime. Apply the home, custody and travel chapters alongside the local page.

Emergency: 112 works in all nine cities below. In London, 999 also works. In Switzerland, direct numbers are police 117, ambulance 144 and fire 118. In Vienna they are police 133, ambulance 144 and fire 122. State your city and exact location first. [S68] [S72] [S73] [S85]

Prepare the border and the backup

Check each traveller's nationality, passport, visa or residence status, permitted activities and onward route. Schengen short stays generally share a 90 days in 180 limit; changing cities does not restart it. Switzerland participates in Schengen. UK entry is separate: use its official visa and ETA checker. Do not infer a Chinese passport holder's entitlement from a companion's passport. [S78] [S84]

Keep financial checks separate from travel permission

For EU services, check the current ESMA MiCA register, the exact contracting entity and permitted services. Swiss and UK checks use their own systems. A register entry does not authenticate a caller or promise protection against loss. Client eligibility depends on the service and your circumstances. [S79] [S80] [S81]

Before each move: save the local address, staffed help point, next transfer and an ordinary payment backup offline. Recheck transport disruption, weather and official advice. Give the contact person actual local check-in times; daylight-saving changes can alter the difference from Asia. Use the bilingual wording in chapter 2 and keep private itineraries out of public groups.
