WHALE SAFETY FIELD GUIDE

Decide how much protection you need

The useful question is not simply whether a place is safe. Ask what someone can learn about you, how easily they can reach you, what they believe you control and how quickly help can respond. This is a planning framework, not a numerical prediction.

Four forms of exposure

ExposureQuestions to ask
RecognitionCan your real identity be linked to crypto wealth, public wallets, business disputes or a recent sale?
AccessCan a stranger reach your home, children, hotel room, private meeting or vehicle?
Immediate controlCould your phone, credentials or cooperation unlock a substantial amount quickly?
RecoveryIf you are unavailable, can your family get help and pay for ordinary needs without compromising reserves?

There is documented evidence of violent cryptocurrency theft. A US Justice Department conviction concerned home invasions, while another investigation described stolen databases, victim targeting and residential burglars. These establish plausible threats; they do not establish how common attacks are in any destination in this guide. [S04] [S05]

Use clear escalation triggers

Routine exposure: no specific threat, limited public visibility, working household controls. Use the basic practices and review them before trips and after major changes.

Elevated exposure: a public wealth event, leaked home address, contentious dispute, repeated suspicious approaches, or high visibility conference role. Get a professional assessment; reduce unnecessary appearances and private meetings while the concern is evaluated.

Specific or immediate threat: credible threats, stalking, attempted entry, threats to relatives or coercion. Contact police and qualified local protection support. Change or postpone optional plans. Do not wait for a checklist or a perfect assessment before seeking urgent help.

Choose protection by capability

A trained adviser should assess the person, household, routes and actual threat. Check local licensing, relevant experience, references, insurance, privacy practices, medical capability and who provides backup. Ask how they cooperate with local police and manage subcontractors.

A large entourage, an expensive car or an armed guard can add visibility and legal complexity. Weapons and protective services are regulated differently across borders. Do not buy or carry weapons on the assumption that a permit elsewhere is valid.

Review again after: an address leak, a custody change, a new relationship, a staff departure, a dispute, a public transaction or an attempted fraud. These are proposed review triggers, not proof that an attack will occur. [S01]
