Zurich

Emergency: 112; police 117; ambulance 144; fire 118. Keep the exact street and building entrance on your card. [S73]

Do not let a financial reputation replace checks

Official Swiss travel advice calls for care at airports, railway stations and crowded places. Treat Zurich arrivals, train transfers and meetings as occasions to control belongings and information, even when the surroundings feel orderly. [S74]

A Swiss address, banking vocabulary or introduction by a familiar adviser does not establish authority over your assets. Verify the legal entity and the specific activity, and use independently obtained contact details to arrange the meeting.

Verify an adviser before giving access

FINMA provides authorisation lists and a warning list. The warning list is not exhaustive: absence from it is not approval. A person's claim of registration needs to be checked against the relevant entity, activity and supervisory arrangement. Resolve uncertainty with a qualified Swiss adviser before transferring assets. [S80]

Ask in writing who can move assets, who can change permissions, how instructions are authenticated and what happens if you are unavailable. Do not disclose recovery words or sign an unreadable message during an introductory meeting. Keep legal and custody review separate from hospitality.

Transport and private meetings

  • Set a known meeting address and your own return arrangements. Avoid turning an airport pickup into an unplanned visit to another office or home.
  • Keep the device and documents needed for travel accessible without opening the systems controlling reserves. Do not leave bags unattended during a café or train stop.
  • If the itinerary includes Zug or another town, add its actual address and transfer to the trip brief. A Zurich hotel contact cannot automatically manage an incident elsewhere.

Homes apartments and family time

For a longer stay, confirm building access, key holders, staff replacement arrangements and an after-hours response. Tell household members how to verify service visits. Keep backup locations and investment meetings out of shared building communications.

For a mountain excursion, choose an appropriate operator, check conditions and confirm rescue and evacuation cover. Do not assume ordinary city-trip insurance covers the planned activity. [S74]

If a financial contact changes the plan: pause new instructions, independently call the established organisation and involve your reviewer. If there is physical intimidation, prioritise leaving safely and contacting police. A familiar brand or claim of regulatory involvement does not justify moving to an isolated place or making an urgent transfer.
